The role of the Deputy Manager Information Services is a key position within our organization, requiring strong leadership and technical skills.

Job Description:

As Deputy Manager Information Services, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of library operations. This includes supervising staff, ensuring efficient use of resources, and maintaining high-quality services.

Your primary focus will be on supervision of all matters concerning the library. This encompasses ensuring that library staff are performing their duties effectively and efficiently.

You will require a strong theoretical and practical understanding of tools and techniques used in library and information science, particularly at the university level. Knowledge of emerging technologies in this field is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise stocktaking, automation, classification/cataloguing, and orders lists against holding new orders.
  • Manage the library database and inventory of library materials, library installations, instruction to students, and advice on discipline.
  • Assist the Director in all academic and managerial matters.
  • Support libraries with the procurement of new books, journals, magazines, and other materials.
  • Provide advisory and reference services to newcomers/students.
  • Supervise the acquisition of library material.
