Product Placement Specialist

As a key member of our merchandising team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring products reach the right stores at the optimal time and in the correct quantities.

You will work closely with our buying teams to accurately forecast trends, plan stock levels, and monitor performance.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop product ranges and prepare sales and stock plans in conjunction with buyers.
  2. Liaise with buyers, analysts, stores, suppliers, and distributors to ensure seamless operations.
  3. Maintain a comprehensive library of relevant data to inform business decisions.
  4. Collaborate with visual display staff and department heads to decide how goods should be displayed to maximise customer interest and sales.
  5. Produce layout plans for stores to enhance customer experience.
  6. Forecast profits and sales, and optimise the sales volume and profitability of designated product areas.
  7. Plan budgets and present sales forecasts and figures for new ranges.
  8. Control stock levels based on forecasts for the season.
  9. Use specialist computer software to handle sales statistics, produce sales projections, and present spreadsheets and graphs.
  10. Analyse every aspect of bestsellers to ensure they reach their full potential.
  11. Monitor slow sellers and take action to reduce prices or set promotions as necessary.
  12. Gather information on customers' reactions to products.
  13. Analyse previous season's sales and report on the current season's lines.
  14. Make financial presentations to senior managers.
  15. Accompany buyers on visits to manufacturers to appreciate production processes.
  16. Meet with suppliers and manage the distribution of stock, by negotiating cost prices, ordering stock, agreeing timescales and delivery dates, and completing the necessary paperwork.
  17. Identify production and supply difficulties and deal with any problems or delays as they arise.
  18. Manage, train, and supervise junior staff.
