Youth Advocate

Job Summary

• The Youth Advocate is responsible for establishing meaningful relationships with youth, adhering to the conditions outlined in their service plans.
• This role requires a flexible work schedule that may include working outside regular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:

• Daily face-to-face interactions with assigned youth at various locations.
• Maintaining a structured environment to promote positive behaviors.
• Fostering a helping relationship with youth, emphasizing accountability and support.
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation of youth progress and discharge information.
• Entering data into the Department of Juvenile Justice's tracking system and other databases.
• Staying up-to-date on youth history and case file information.
• Notifying the Program Director or designee in case of a youth crisis or suspected illegal activity.
• Avoiding absenteeism is essential.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participating in coordinating youth activities and groups as needed.
• Providing staff relief and being available for on-call duty when necessary.
• Offering advocacy and support in areas such as health, education, vocation, legal, and family services.
• Assisting with the training of new staff members as directed.
• Providing crisis intervention and administering first aid when required.
• Maintaining adaptability in response to changing situations and handling additional tasks as assigned.
