Job Summary:
The Radiology Expert is responsible for overseeing the radiology unit, ensuring the provision of high-quality radiological services through administrative oversight and technical expertise.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
To excel in this role, you should possess a strong educational background in medicine and have specialized training in radiology. A minimum of 5 years of experience in radiology, with proven expertise in diagnostic imaging techniques such as X-Ray, CT Scan, MRI, and ultrasound, is also required.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Curative/Clinical:
- Ensure the appropriate utilization of X-Ray films while maintaining strict control over budgetary resources.
- Oversee the accurate and up-to-date maintenance of accounts by staff, ensuring seamless financial management within the department.
- Provide instructions to wards regarding patient preparation for radiological investigations, guaranteeing the highest standards of care.
- Supervise and conduct specialized techniques and procedures as required by the Specialist in charge, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Supervise radiographers, providing guidance in technical matters to minimize film wastage and patient inconvenience, promoting efficiency and effectiveness.
- Conduct patient screening when available, prioritizing patient safety and comfort.
- Prepare reports for all X-Ray, CT Scan, MRI films, and ultrasound examinations conducted on the same day or by the following morning, ensuring timely and accurate communication of results.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), particularly in Infection Control, Waste Management, and radiation protection, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Maintain vigilance regarding contrast media safety and reactions, adhering to the highest standards of patient care.
- Review referrals from Medical Officers (MOs)/other Specialists and lower facilities to establish diagnoses, exercising sound clinical judgment.
- Perform procedures for investigative purposes such as fluoroscopy, utilizing advanced technology to diagnose complex medical conditions.
- Ensure timely delivery of all reports/findings to the concerned units, facilitating seamless communication and collaboration.
- Wear Dosimeters issued by relevant authorities during duty, demonstrating commitment to radiation safety.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, particularly in Infection Control and Waste Management in outpatient departments (OPDs), Medical Wards, and ICUs regarding radiology, upholding the highest standards of hygiene and sanitation.
- Ensure proper sterilization of instruments/equipment used in examinations and procedures, maintaining a sterile and safe environment.
- Ensure all staff participating in procedures are properly protected by wearing appropriate attire, prioritizing staff safety and well-being.
- Provide training to Medical, Nursing, and Paramedical Staff as per departmental/specialty requirements and protocols, investing in the growth and development of team members.
- Remain on call after working hours, being responsive to emergency situations and needs.
- Ensure timely submission of statistical reports for the unit, facilitating data-driven decision-making.
- Monitor staff punctuality and unit cleanliness, maintaining a productive and organized work environment.
- Prepare and implement duty rosters for the unit, ensuring optimal resource allocation and scheduling.
- Ensure electro-medical equipment is regularly maintained and functional, leveraging technology to enhance patient care.
- Ensure regular supply/replenishment of medicines and stores, maintaining an adequate stock level to meet patient needs.
- Provide technical assistance to management for the purchase of new equipment/instruments, supporting strategic decision-making.
- Ensure subordinate staff adhere to job descriptions (JDs) and SOPs, promoting accountability and responsibility.
- Write Objective Performance Evaluation Reports for subordinate staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Perform outreach duties to lower facilities as required, contributing to the broader healthcare mission.
- Fulfill any other professional duties assigned by the in-charge, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
