At Careem, we are building the Everything App for the greater Middle East. This innovative project aims to simplify and improve the lives of people by providing a comprehensive platform that covers transportation, food delivery, grocery shopping, and more.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers to develop scalable and robust backend applications and services.
  • Write high-quality code while working on defined tasks independently.
  • Delve into functional specifications and deliver complete features.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation and be ready to help resolve incidents within the agreed SLA.
  • Contribute to team agile and engineering practices, continuously improving them.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience with at least one modern object-oriented programming language like Java, Golang, or Kotlin.
  • Familiarity with fundamental computer science concepts including object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Able to ensure online systems operate reliably, deploying changes to production effectively.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Proficiency in Java Spring, Golang, and cloud platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or AWS.
  • Familiarity with container technology like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Working knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems.
  • Ability to apply professional software engineering best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
