Job Summary:

The Community Outreach Specialist will focus on supporting the implementation of community outreach activities for a food and agriculture project. The incumbent will provide direct support to implementing partners, ensuring quality assurance of non-negotiable processes and gender transformative aspects of the approach.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support service providers in implementing integrated and holistic community outreach activities, including community awareness and planning.
  • Facilitate service providers in developing detailed community outreach plans for empowering livestock farmers through Farmer Field Schools and community-wide interventions.
  • Coordinate routine engagements with district-level technical departments for joint planning, technical backstopping, and supervision of community outreach activities.
  • Ensure quality assurance of community outreach by following guidelines for implementing good quality Farmer Field Schools on livestock, systematically conducting sessions, collecting data, and factoring in location-specific dynamics.
  • Provide routine technical backstopping to FFS facilitators and ensure adherence to non-negotiable principles and processes of the FFS approach.
  • Identify and facilitate different FFS groups to access rural financing opportunities and enhance their livelihood and market linkages.
  • Develop and operationalize a realistic sustainability plan for the FFS groups with clear post-FFS activities.
  • Support preparation and collation of work plans and progress reports on community outreach, case studies, and success stories.
  • Document and share emerging innovations, lessons, and good practices from community outreach with the communications team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Livestock/Veterinary Medicine or Animal Science; Natural Resource Management, and Agriculture or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in livestock management, especially small ruminants.
  • Working knowledge of English and fluency in local languages spoken in the province.
  • National of Pakistan.
Technical/Functional Skills:
  • Proven training and practical experience in implementing Farmer Field School methodology for livestock.
  • Climate Resilient Agriculture/Livestock (CRA) and private sector experience will be an asset.
  • Participatory approaches for rural community development.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills including MS Office.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong analysis, report writing, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment and rural communities.
  • Familiarity with UN systems and procedures regarding code of conduct and resource use.
  • Display initiative and take responsibility towards achieving agreed outputs within set deadlines.
