Job Title: Production Planning and Control Lead

Job Summary:

This role oversees the efficient planning of production operations, ensuring timely material procurement, and optimal resource utilization. Strong analytical skills, effective departmental coordination, and complex process management are essential for success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production Planning:
  1. Develop and Implement Comprehensive Plans: Create and execute production plans that meet organizational objectives, considering resource availability, demand forecasts, and capacity constraints.

  2. Optimize Production Schedules: Analyze production schedules to optimize resource allocation, reduce lead times, and minimize downtime.

  3. Monitor Performance and Recommend Adjustments: Track production performance against plans and suggest adjustments as needed to ensure efficiency.

  • Capacity Resource Planning (CRP):
  1. Analyze Capacity Requirements: Assess production capacity requirements to meet changing demands and adjust plans accordingly.

  2. Collaborate with Operations and HR: Work with the operations and human resources departments to address manpower, equipment, and facility needs.

  3. Evaluate Machine Utilization: Monitor machine utilization rates to ensure maximum efficiency and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Material Requirements Planning (MRP):
  1. Manage Material Procurement: Plan and procure materials in accordance with production schedules to ensure raw materials are available on time.

  2. Liaise with Suppliers: Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to maintain optimal inventory levels, minimizing waste and stockouts.

  3. Review Material Usage: Conduct regular reviews of material usage and adjust inventory policies to improve efficiency.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  1. Coordinate with Departments: Work closely with procurement, quality, and production departments to align planning activities with operational goals.

  2. Communicate with Sales and Marketing: Ensure seamless communication with sales and marketing teams to incorporate customer demand into production planning.

  3. Logistics Management: Coordinate with logistics teams to manage inbound and outbound material flows.

  • Monitoring and Reporting:
  1. Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Monitor and analyze KPIs related to production, capacity, and material management to identify areas for improvement.

  2. Generate Reports: Produce regular reports for senior management highlighting planning efficiency and potential bottlenecks.

  3. Implement Planning Tools: Develop and maintain planning software tools to enhance forecasting and scheduling accuracy.

  • Continuous Improvement:
  1. Identify Process Improvements: Continuously assess and implement process improvements to enhance planning accuracy and reduce costs.

  2. Develop Contingency Plans: Create contingency plans to mitigate risks in production and material supply chains.

  3. Stay Updated: Stay current with industry best practices and integrate them into planning functions to ensure optimal performance.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 8-9 years of experience in production planning, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in MRP/ERP Systems: Strong knowledge of Material Requirements Planning and Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
  • Understanding of CRP and MRP Principles: In-depth understanding of Capacity Resource Planning and Material Requirements Planning principles.
  • Data Analysis Skills: Advanced skills in MS Excel and data analysis.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with various departments.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to handle complex planning processes.
  • Time Management and Prioritization: Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
  • Adherence to production schedules.
