Hematology Consultant

As a Hematology Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in leading clinical governance and developing services within the section.

Key responsibilities include accountability for all aspects of clinical governance, including quality assurance and accreditation. You will also be responsible for contributing to teaching as an integral part of clinical practice.

• Liaise with clinicians to provide clinico-pathologic advice on abnormal results.
• Implement and monitor quality control, quality assurance protocols, and record-keeping procedures.
• Participate in audit and implement corrective actions.

You will also contribute to professional leadership by taking responsibility and showing evidence of leadership.

Furthermore, you will ensure drafting and implementation of SOPs, internal and external quality control of all tests, and supervision of staff.

In addition, you will participate in departmental meetings and acquire knowledge of advanced laboratory theory, techniques, and testing related to hematology and transfusion medicine.

Acquiring extensive knowledge of standard laboratory safety procedures is also essential.

You will perform costing of all tests, feasibility of new tests, and ensure proper test utilization and inventory management.

Additionally, you will ensure appropriate training and development of technical staff.
