Electrical Design Engineer I

The Electrical Engineer-I is responsible for providing engineering oversight throughout the proposal and design phase of projects, including all aspects of a Solar PV system, racking, equipment foundations and pads, fencing, and site construction support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish Solar PV basis of design including module selection, string sizing, ground coverage ratio, inverter selection, inverter power factor requirements, inverter loading ratio, and cable sizing
  • Design solar PV systems, including 1-line diagrams and array layouts
  • Demonstrate structural, mechanical, and electrical design skills with the ability to generate accurate, highly detailed construction drawings and documents using AutoCAD
  • Closely collaborate with project development and construction teams in the design, development, and construction of Solar PV systems
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices to tasks, particularly when analyzing current technical tools, and evaluating tools
  • Perform energy simulation analysis using PVsyst to help Finance and Business Development team acquire new projects
  • Collaborate with suppliers and third-party personnel to facilitate design and development of Solar PV systems
  • Assist in creating 30% and IFC PVsyst reports
  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and problem-solving
Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and PVsyst software
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) and relevant industry standards
