Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain effective leadership and management of academic areas, overseeing schools and a cohort of Principals.

As an Area Education Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring improvement in Student Satisfaction Ratings, fee collection enhancement, and daily fleet management. You will manage the Area Administrator to perform overall administrative duties and academic data management (analysis, verification, and preservation).

Collaboration and Communication
  • Maintain open communication with community members, encouraging the use of community resources to support schools as needed. Principals are expected to maintain strong communication with Parents and occasionally attend Parent-Student meetings.
  • Maintain liaison with donors on donor-related education activities when required. Ensure a strong collaborative working environment by maintaining communication with other Area Education Managers, seeking feedback, and sharing best practices to support overall regional development.
Principal Quality Enhancement Initiatives
  • Strengthen the Principal cohort to improve overall quality through targeted initiatives.
  • Work with the Recruitment and Human Resources Manager to recruit high-quality local Principals, including participation in Assessment Centers.
  • Ensure full participation in Performance Quality Improvement visits and monitor regular academic feedback provided to Principals, including formal appraisals, and monitor continuous improvement throughout the year. Where applicable, provide support to the Principal through Performance Improvement Plans.
Teacher Quality Enhancement Strategies
  • Strengthen the Teacher cohort to improve overall quality, focusing on Content through Teaching Competency Training and Pedagogy.
  • Work with Principals to conduct outreach and recruitment of high-quality local Teachers, especially in challenging locations. Responsible for approving Teacher transfers and promotion recommendations.
  • Conduct a minimum of one classroom observation on every visit and ensure consistency in feedback.
School Improvement Planning
  • Develop a clear action plan for struggling schools in the area, implement it, and conduct regular follow-up to ensure improvement.
  • Plan and develop strategies for area improvement (through Annual Improvement Plans) clearly linked to whole school and area improvement.
