Job Opportunity: Lecturer - Optometry / Orthoptics

We are seeking a qualified lecturer to teach optometry and orthoptics courses, with a focus on delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences for students.

  1. Maintain academic excellence by meeting annual targets assigned by the Head of Department (HOD).
  2. Collaborate with the Dean/Principal to ensure a high-quality teaching and learning environment.
  3. Teach assigned courses in accordance with faculty workload policy, utilizing innovative strategies and facilitating experiential learning.
  4. Contribute to the planning of teaching programs, focusing on student engagement and critical discourse.

Detailed Responsibilities:

Student Supervision and Support

The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising student projects, field trips, and placements, as well as maintaining accurate records of student performance.

  1. Supervise student projects, ensuring they meet academic standards.
  2. Maintain records of student performance for internal evaluation purposes.
  3. Provide guidance and support to 15 to 20 students throughout their academic journey.
Research and Publication

The ideal candidate will have a strong research background and be able to publish research findings or disseminate them through other media channels.

  1. Conduct independent research and act as principal investigator and project leader.
  2. Seek practical application of research findings to drive innovation and improvement.
  3. Act as a line manager, supervising the work of others, and supervise PhD students when required.
