Lead PV Installation Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead PV Installation Specialist to join our team.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the installation of photovoltaic systems, ensuring that they are installed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering plans and specifications.
Job Description:

The Lead PV Installation Specialist will have overall responsibility for leading teams of installers, providing guidance and support as required. The role involves:

  • Reviewing blueprints, design documents, and specifications to determine work requirements.
  • Coordinating site surveys and assisting the design team as needed.
  • Verifying sizes, ratings, and locations for all system devices, including disconnects, grounding equipment, and surge suppression equipment.
  • Providing recommendations for installation locations with proper orientation, area, solar access, or structural integrity for photovoltaic arrays.
  • Selecting appropriate locations for installations and operations for Balance of System (BOS) components.
  • Recommending construction materials and equipment as per site specifications.
  • Assisting in the selection of connection interfaces for additional subpanels or connecting photovoltaic systems with utility services or other power generation sources.
  • Determining materials, equipment, and installation sequences necessary to maximize installation efficiency.
  • Identifying electrical, environmental, and safety hazards associated with photovoltaic installations.
  • Executing safe storage of equipment and materials on site.
  • Assembling solar panels on mounting structures as detailed in drawings.
  • Resolving deficiencies in photovoltaic system plans.
  • Installing photovoltaic systems in accordance with engineering drawings, schematics, and instructions.
  • Applying weather sealing to array, building, or support mechanisms.
  • Applying sealants or other protective coatings, as required.
  • Installing module array interconnect wiring, implementing measures to disable arrays during installation.
  • Laying out, orienting, and mounting modules or arrays to ensure efficient installation, electrical configuration, or system maintenance.
  • Checking electrical installation for proper wiring, polarity, grounding, or integrity of terminations.
  • Testing operating voltages to ensure operation within acceptable limits for power conditioning equipment, such as inverters and controllers.
  • Activating photovoltaic systems to verify system functionality and conformity to performance expectations.
  • Testing electrical and mechanical equipment, as well as complete system to ensure proper functioning.
  • Programming, adjusting, or configuring inverters and controls for desired set points and operating modes.
  • Visually inspecting and testing photovoltaic systems as per commissioning checklist.
  • Testing installed system after commissioning to verify performance up to required level.
  • Installing required labels on solar system components and hardware.
