The Aga Khan University is seeking a highly motivated Resident Medical Officer to join the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

About the Role

This position involves performing routine laboratory procedures in accordance with established protocols, interpreting laboratory reports and communicating results to patients, maintaining effective communication with staff on reception and within the laboratory regarding patient procedures, participating in research activities under supervision, evaluating patients under supervision, performing on-call duties as assigned, and maintaining strict adherence to safety regulations and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Laboratory Procedures: Perform routine laboratory tests, experiments, and investigations to diagnose diseases or conditions.
  • Report Interpretation: Interpret laboratory reports and communicate results to patients, healthcare professionals, or other relevant stakeholders.
  • Communication: Maintain effective communication with staff on reception and within the laboratory regarding patient procedures.
  • Research: Participate in research activities under supervision to improve knowledge and skills in haematology and transfusion medicine.
  • Patient Evaluation: Evaluate patients under supervision to determine their medical condition and provide appropriate treatment.
  • On-Call Duties: Perform on-call duties as assigned to ensure continuous coverage and timely response to emergencies.
  • Safety and Quality: Maintain strict adherence to safety regulations and quality control procedures to ensure high-quality patient care.
Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must have:

  • A MBBS degree or equivalent, along with FCPS part one certification, and a valid PMDC license.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
