Job Description:

Cotton Field Development Specialist sought to implement a donor-funded project on sustainable cotton production. The selected candidate will be responsible for implementing the Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS) and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP). Key objectives include preparing implementation plans, surveying farmers, registering and training farmers, and conducting internal assessments.

Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed implementation plans for farmer training on BCSS and GAPs for cotton crops.
• Conduct surveys of potential cotton farmers and update existing farmer information.
• Register farmers and workers, and build their capacity regarding best practices and BCSS.
• Capacity building of farmers and farm workers (male and female) on cotton production, GAPs, and record-keeping.
• Assist farmers in registering and developing producer organizations.
• Conduct internal assessments of registered cotton growers.
• Prepare and submit fortnightly progress reports to managers.
• Collect seed cotton data from registered farmers and share with managers.
• Prepare technical reports on cotton growers.
• Collect, verify, and submit Result Indicator Data (RI) within deadlines.
• Maintain good communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork, and manage conflicting priorities.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in agriculture, preferably in Entomology, Plant Protection, Agronomy, or related fields.
• Knowledge of BCI Production principles and criteria.
• Understanding of cotton production technology and sustainability issues.
