
Senior Infection Control Specialist

Job Overview:
As a Senior Infection Control Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe environment for patients, relatives, visitors, and healthcare workers.
- Lead infection control initiatives on campus to minimize the risk of infections.
- Create and maintain a safe environment by utilizing infection control knowledge, effective communication, nursing skills, and teaching techniques.
- Conduct regular rounds in the hospital to monitor and discuss infection control practices with staff, ensuring compliance with established protocols.
- Participate in Quality Improvement activities, committees, and projects as assigned, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor clinical indicators related to infection control, prepare monthly data, and generate reports to inform decision-making.
- Identify problem areas or increased infection rates and report them promptly to the manager/HOD, facilitating timely interventions.
- Develop infection control policies based on hospital needs, disseminate them effectively, and ensure staff access to relevant information.
- Collect and maintain infection data from hospital departments, analyzing trends and patterns to inform evidence-based practice.
- Coordinate between clinical areas and the Infection Control Team to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Conduct training sessions to educate staff on proper infection control practices, promoting a culture of safety.
- Report infected or compromised patients to the Infection Control Manager/HOD and ID team, ensuring prompt action is taken.
- Arrange monthly infection control committee meetings to facilitate discussion and collaboration among stakeholders.
- Implement control measures during infectious disease outbreaks, reviewing and refining practices as needed.
- Ensure availability of necessary supplies and report shortages, minimizing disruptions to patient care.
- Continuously update knowledge on Infection Control to stay current with best practices and emerging trends.
- Monitor and guide staff in preventive measures, promoting a culture of safety and vigilance.
- Report any issues hindering infection control practices, facilitating prompt resolution and improvement.
- Ensure staff are free from infectious diseases, maintaining a healthy and safe work environment.
- Collect and investigate infection reports, teaching precautions to staff and reinforcing adherence to established protocols.
- Coordinate with the nursing school for training nursing students, fostering a culture of lifelong learning and development.
- Initiate emergency safety practices as needed, prioritizing patient and staff well-being.
- Relevant educational qualifications required, reflecting a strong foundation in infection control principles.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in infection control, demonstrating expertise and leadership in this field.
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective infection control strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating collaboration and cooperation among stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, identifying areas for improvement and developing targeted solutions.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines.
