The Centre of Excellence in Women and Child Health is seeking a skilled Glass Washer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of laboratory equipment and workspaces.

Responsibilities
  • Clean laboratory glassware, including test tubes, beakers, flasks, and pipettes, using proper cleaning supplies and tools
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for research activities by regularly cleaning laboratory work surfaces and equipment
  • Help track consumables, chemicals, and glassware among other laboratory supplies, notifying supervisors when more materials are needed
  • FOLLOW established protocols and safety recommendations for disposing of laboratory waste items, old glassware, and chemical waste
  • Assist laboratory personnel with tasks such as kit preparation, sample transportation, and shipment setup as needed
  • Ensure safety protocols and instructions are followed in the laboratory at all times to prevent mishaps or injuries
  • Keep thorough records of all glassware cleaning operations and inventory transactions as needed
  • Perform general housekeeping duties, including mopping floors, emptying garbage cans, and keeping the laboratory's common spaces tidy
Requirements
  • Matriculation or intermediate qualification required
  • Prior experience in laboratory support roles preferred but not necessary
  • Basic knowledge of cleanliness and safety procedures in laboratories essential
  • Able to follow instructions and maintain normal operating procedures
  • Detailed focus and dedication to upholding neatness and order
  • Physical endurance to perform tasks involving moderate physical effort
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with others in a team
