Job Overview

This is a senior leadership role that oversees the development and implementation of a research and innovation strategy for the university.

  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in research, commercialization or academic leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop Research Strategy: Develop and implement a research strategy that aligns with national priorities.
  • Fund Research Projects: Identify key research areas and facilitate internal and external funding for research projects.
  • Strengthen Industry Links: Strengthen academia-industry linkages and support research commercialization.
  • Manage Intellectual Property: Manage intellectual property, licensing and promote startup culture.
  • Train Researchers: Organize research training and foster an innovative ecosystem (incubators, hubs).
  • Evaluate Research: Oversee monitoring, evaluation and reporting of research activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Leadership Experience: 15 plus years' experience in research, commercialization or academic leadership.
  • Project Leadership: Proven leadership in research projects.
  • Industry Connections: Strong links with academia, industry and government.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit: Successful entrepreneurial track record.

Desirable Skills
  • Strategic Thinking: Strategic thinking, excellent communication and team building skills.
  • IP Management: Experience with IP management, grants and innovation programs.
  • National Landscape: Knowledge of national Research and Development landscape.

Education
  • Advanced Degree: Ph.D./ M.Phil. in sciences (preferably Ph.D.) with High Impact Factor.
