Phlebotomy Technician

The Donor Attendant will be responsible for performing venipuncture on adults and pediatric patients to collect blood samples. They must verify each patient's identification according to the donor registration requisition slip and check the donor's status through a donor questionnaire.

• They must perform accurate and gentle vein puncture procedures to collect blood and prepare and store blood components according to donor phlebotomy requirements.
• They must re-avail blood units into stock after cross match cancellation and maintain records of blood donors' consent forms.
• They must pack samples according to requirements and hand over reports to donors with normal screening results.
• They must shift quarantine components to stock refrigerators and freezers as per laboratory protocols and maintain inventory of blood donor areas.
• They must ensure daily quality control and maintenance of Hemocue instruments.
• They must ensure daily water bath cleaning, calibration of blood shakers and cleaning of cryofuges.
