Job Overview:

The role of a Fortinet Security Specialist is pivotal in safeguarding an organization's information system assets. This involves identifying and resolving potential and actual security threats, as well as protecting the system by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources.

Responsibilities:

  1. Safeguard information system assets by identifying and solving potential and actual security problems
  2. Protect system by defining access privileges, control structures, and resources
  3. Recognize problems by identifying abnormalities; reporting violations
  4. Implement security improvements by assessing current situation; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements
  5. Determine security violations and inefficiencies by conducting periodic audits
  6. Upgrade system by implementing and maintaining security controls
  7. Keep users and customers informed by preparing performance reports and communicating system status
  8. Maintain quality service by following organization standards
  9. Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications
  10. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  11. Have the ability to perform troubleshooting on active accounts
  12. Knowledge of FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer and FortiPortal

Qualifications:

  1. Active member of a 24x7 team of Fortinet security specialists
  2. System administration
  3. Network security
  4. Problem solving
  5. Information security policies
  6. On-call network troubleshooting
  7. Firewall administration
  8. Network protocols

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience
  2. 2+ years of full-time hands-on experience in designing, configuring, implementing, monitoring, and resolving issues on FortiNet FortiGuard security appliances
  3. Advanced FortiNet security certifications
  4. Industry certifications such as SANS GIAC/GCIA/GCIH, Security+ CE, CISSP or CASP
  5. Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth and common security elements
  6. Hands-on experience analyzing high volumes of logs, network data (e.g. Netflow, FPC), and other attack artifacts in support of incident investigations
  7. Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions
