Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Academic Professional to join our team in the field of Optometry and Orthoptics. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching assigned courses, developing their own teaching skills, and contributing to the planning of teaching programs.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Teach assigned courses as per faculty workload policy, ensuring a high-quality teaching and learning environment for students.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies, facilitating experiential learning during lessons.
  • Challenge thinking, foster debate, and develop critical discourse and rational thinking among students.
  • Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements, providing guidance and support when needed.
  • Set, mark, and assess work and examinations, providing constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' academic performance for internal evaluation.
  • Execute mentoring of 15-20 students, promoting their academic growth and development.
  • Update data in relevant software and systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Embed Islamic and ethical values in teaching, participating in departmental and university committees as required.
  • Ensure teaching content and methods align with our institution's mission and vision.
  • Address issues related to subordinates and student needs, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
  • A strong background in Optometry or Orthoptics, with relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Excellent teaching and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies, staying up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and systems, including virtual learning environments.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
