The role of Senior Coordinator Program Safeguarding and Risk Management is a critical position within our organization, responsible for driving the implementation of safeguarding strategies across multiple countries or regions.

This individual will play a key role in ensuring that our programs are delivered with the highest level of integrity, safety, and protection for all stakeholders. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in leading complex safeguarding investigations, handling sensitive material in high-pressure environments, and managing risk registers to ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a champion for safeguarding, driving a culture of safety and protection across the organization and its partners.
  • Ensure strategic plans meet Better Cotton's safeguarding framework, integrating into national and international legislation, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Develop advanced safeguarding training programs, enhancing capacity through comprehensive training, awareness sessions, and workshops.
  • Provide guidance on safeguarding practices, ensuring alignment with corrective action plans, due diligence standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with the Safeguarding Manager on country-specific initiatives, including high-level risk assessments, survivor support strategies, and awareness-raising campaigns.
  • Manage a safeguarding hotline and develop a network of investigators for prompt deployment.
  • Lead or co-lead safeguarding investigations, ensuring confidentiality, professionalism, and support services for survivors.
  • Serve as the point of contact for safeguarding matters, offering expert-level guidance on complex issues and incidents.
  • Oversee complaints management, working with the Complaints Monitoring Team to review and manage all complaints related to Pakistan.
  • Engage and manage external investigators for complex cases, drafting TORs, managing contracts, and overseeing payment processes.
  • Ensure full compliance with organizational safeguarding policies and procedures, including Internet Usage, Whistleblowing, Code of Conduct, Risk Management, and Fraud Prevention.
  • Manage and oversee the risk management framework, ensuring regular reviews, updates, and mitigation strategies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in law, international development, social studies, or a related field, with a focus on safeguarding or child protection.
  • At least 5-7 years of advisor or specialist level experience in safeguarding, protection, or related fields, preferably within NGOs, international organizations, government agencies, or security firms.
  • Extensive experience in leading complex safeguarding investigations, handling sensitive material, and managing risk registers.
  • Demonstrable experience with safeguarding data management systems, analyzing complex data sets, and producing high-level reports.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, procedures, and international standards.
  • Strong experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating large-scale learning and development initiatives.
  • Highly solution-oriented, with proven ability to manage high-stakes situations, demonstrate sound judgment, strategic thinking, and leadership.
  • Exceptional ability to develop innovative solutions to complex safeguarding challenges.
  • Strong emotional resilience, with a proven ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments and manage stress in a safeguarding role.
  • Proven leadership skills, influencing senior stakeholders, driving organizational change, and leading safeguarding initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate at a senior level across multiple teams and diverse cultures.
  • Superior organizational and project management skills, managing complex projects and delivering results on time and within scope.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, presenting information clearly to senior audiences, boards, and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in using advanced IT tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and data analysis software.
  • Fluent in English, with excellent presentation skills.
