Job Title:Visual Director

A minimum of an associates degree in advertising, communication design, or visual arts is required. A bachelor's degree in the same fields is highly preferred. 3+ years of experience in a design agency setting is necessary.

Creative Agency Function: Manager Level of Experience: Manager Supervises Graphic Designers, Freelance Graphic Designer(s)

  • Personally develop at least one product.
  • Interact with Copywriters/Content Developers to create innovative concepts and executions for assigned products.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of market dynamics of assigned products.
  • Collaborate closely with account executives to schedule and monitor all projects.
  • Provide accurate time and cost estimates for each tactic.
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as directed by Supervisor.
  • Offer expert technical visual recommendations and/or advice to clients.
  • Facilitate both input and creative meetings.
  • Assist in presenting to clients.
  • Staff Development: Provide detailed direction to designers.
  • Support training and development of designers.
Job Specification
  • Demonstrate mastery of composition techniques (multiple elements and interactive pieces) in producing polished final pieces.
  • Exhibit comprehensive computer photo-retouching and image development skills.
  • Display thorough understanding of color theory and color relationships.
  • Familiarize yourself with typographic terms that identify type forms and specifications required to refer to typographic settings.
  • Show expertise in perspective and space relationships.
  • Illustrate knowledge of page composition and grid structures.
  • Be familiar with print production process, production techniques, and correct disking procedures.
  • Have thorough knowledge of photography and the photographic process.
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate extensive knowledge of assigned products.
  • Effectively provide direction at photo shoots.
  • Evaluate and approve work on press effectively.
  • Collect electronic materials for output efficiently.
  • Handle multiple assignments simultaneously effectively.
  • Manage challenging situations both internally and externally.
  • Command respect of freelancers and designers and oversee their work effectively.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A minimum of an associate's degree in advertising, communication design, or visual arts is required.
  • A bachelor's degree in the same field is highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in a design agency setting is necessary.
  • If no degree is possessed, then 6-8 years of related experience in an agency setting is required. 1-2 years of supervisory experience is also needed. Exceptional computer skills are essential.
  • Thorough knowledge of software applications such as After Effects, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, CorelDraw, scanning software, Adobe Photoshop, and widely used word processing applications is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively and provide marketable solutions in conceiving, developing, and producing tactics is necessary.
