Job Summary

We are seeking an accomplished educator to fill a lecturer position in Optometry and Orthoptics. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Meet annual performance targets assigned by senior departmental staff.
  • Contribute to creating a stimulating teaching environment that fosters student growth and development.
  • Teach assigned courses in accordance with faculty workload policies.
  • Develop and enhance teaching skills to contribute to the planning of academic programs.
  • Implement innovative strategies to facilitate experiential learning during lessons.
  • Encourage critical thinking, debate, and rational discourse in students.
  • Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements as required.
  • Assess work and examinations, providing constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' academic performance for internal evaluation purposes.
  • Participate in departmental and university activities as required.
  • Ensure teaching content aligns with the institution's mission and responds to student needs.
  • Monitor student attendance in classes, labs, and practical sessions.
  • Pursue research and publications to disseminate findings through appropriate media channels.
  • Act as a line manager or PhD supervisor as needed.
Requirements:
  • Strong educational background in Optometry and Orthoptics.
  • Proven teaching experience and ability to deliver engaging lectures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
