Senior Food Fortification Expert

The Senior Food Fortification Expert will lead the technical components of our national food fortification programme in Pakistan, providing high-level leadership and strategic direction to ensure effective implementation and achievement of objectives.

This role requires a postgraduate degree in a relevant field, preferably PhD, with minimum 15 years' experience in public health, nutrition, or fortification. Experience in fortifying wheat flour and oil/ghee is highly desirable.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership to the design and implementation of key technical components for the national food fortification programme.
  • Lead all nutrition and food fortification technical components, including inputs on advocacy, quality control and assurance for food fortification and food safety.
  • Support the Deputy Team Leader role, ensuring effective programme implementation and achievement of milestones.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field, PhD preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in public health, nutrition, or fortification.
  • At least 5 years spent working specifically on food fortification, with experience in fortifying wheat flour and oil/ghee highly desirable.
  • Proven technical leadership and management skills, with experience leading people and teams.

Key Requirements:

  • Previous senior management experience with a large health/nutrition/private sector programme an added advantage.
  • Experience developing and implementing under-nutrition strategies and planning initiatives for food fortification interventions.
  • Experience working effectively with the Pakistan government and regulatory bodies for food security and quality control.
  • Experience working in challenging/security risk environments, including across Pakistan.
