Job Description

The role of the Senior Software Developer/Manager at a leading organization involves leading, organizing, and motivating teams to achieve high performance and quality in delivering agile solutions that provide exceptional business value.

  1. At an enterprise level, this includes managing large, complex projects involving multiple Agile teams and integration with other activities outside the scope of the Agile teams.

  2. At a team level, the Senior Software Developer/Manager plays a consultative role to help implement the appropriate people, process, and tools, and coaches members of the team as needed to optimize project efficiency.

  3. In situations requiring a hybrid Agile approach, the Senior Software Developer/Manager uses good judgment and skill to develop a suitable project management approach within designated project constraints.

Key Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  1. Expert knowledge of software development life cycle models, Agile, and traditional project management principles, with the ability to blend them together according to project and business needs.

  2. A proven track record of successfully implementing software or web development projects using Agile methodologies, including 8+ years of experience managing large, complex projects in a high-tech development environment.

  3. Prior experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies, particularly in enterprise-level application development projects.

  4. Experience overseeing multi-function project teams, including Developers, Business Analysts, and QA Personnel.

  5. Balanced business and technical background, with sufficient technical expertise to lead development teams and evaluate complex project risks.

  6. Ability to provide leadership to business analysts and collaborate with customers to develop high-value strategies and solutions.

  7. Strong coding skills are also required.

Desirable Skills:

  1. BA or BS degree or equivalent experience is required; MA or MS is a plus.

  2. Strong interpersonal skills, including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.

  3. Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing demands.

  4. Strong knowledge of business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain customer trust and confidence.

  5. Proven ability to lead software development projects and ensure objectives, goals, and commitments are met.

  6. Solid understanding of and demonstrated experience using Agile Project Management tools, such as Jira/Greenhopper, Rally, VersionOne, and Microsoft Office Tools.

  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with experience interacting with both business and IT individuals at all levels.

  8. Creative approach to problem-solving, with the ability to focus on details while maintaining a "big picture" view.
