About the Role

This is an entry-level position that requires strong technical skills and excellent communication abilities. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for cultivating engineering best practices, collaborating with other technical leaders, estimating project timelines, and performing complex product design activities.

You will also be expected to conduct unit testing, integration testing, and mentoring junior engineers. A strong understanding of Agile development processes, continuous integration, and unit testing is essential for this role.

Responsibilities
  • Cultivate engineering best practices within the web group, and collaborate with senior engineers to implement company-wide standards.
  • Analyze complex feature requests and suggest implementation strategies in collaboration with other technical leaders.
  • Evaluate project timelines and provide estimates for completing work.
  • Design moderately complex products, perform systems analysis, and develop software.
  • Conduct unit testing (including mocking as needed) and integration testing on software.
  • Mentor junior engineers and define our engineering standards.
Requirements
  • Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Computer Sciences.
  • At least 1 year of experience in Ruby on Rails with strong emphasis on MVC and OOP.
  • Experience with Agile development process and engineering best practices like continuous integration and unit testing.
  • Understanding of performance and security issues when designing web-based applications.
  • Excellent technical judgement to know when to use off-the-shelf solutions and when to make custom ones.
  • Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
