The Junior Technician will work under the guidance of experienced Technicians and Senior Technicians during all Operation Theatre procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with minor cases independently, ensuring a smooth workflow in the OT.
  • Perform essential OT operational activities including:
    • Cleaning all medical equipment to maintain a high standard of hygiene.
    • Arranging surgical instruments for procedures, ensuring they are readily available.
    • Preparing trolleys with minimal supervision, prioritizing patient safety.
    • Verifying the availability of all necessary equipment, instruments, and consumables before procedures.
    • Documenting the use of all equipment during procedures, maintaining accurate records.
    • Coordinating with Housekeeping to maintain cleanliness of the OR.
  • Shift patients to the Recovery Room after ensuring they are cleaned, dressed, and covered, promoting a safe environment.
  • Implement and ensure patient safety measures are followed at all times.
  • Maintain effective communication between surgeons and OT staff, fostering a collaborative team atmosphere.

Additional Requirements

  • Matric preferably with an Intermediate and Diploma.
  • Perform tasks assigned by the Head of Department, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
