Character Animation Specialist

High-end VFX film and episodic productions are looking for talented Character Animators who can bring their characters and objects to life with motions, gestures, and expressions.

  • Collaborate closely with the Animation Lead and Supervisor to produce high-quality animation that creates compelling, story-driven and action-packed moments that fit within the style and pacing of the film.
  • Work with the Rigging and Pipeline departments to improve character setup, visual quality, rigs and tool functionality.
  • Animate both primary and secondary characters and elements.
  • Meet schedules and show deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with Production and Lead regarding schedules and deadlines.
  • Support the Lead in mentoring and training more junior artists.
  • Work efficiently as part of a team or independently to complete assigned shots.
  • Submit shots for review and follow through on notes and feedback.
  • Stay up-to-date with new tools, software, data, and related technology.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience in a similar role.
  • A deep understanding of Maya.
  • An understanding of physical motion, weight, balance, texture, and form.
  • An understanding of rigs, typical rigging set-ups, animation pipelines, and data transfer between tools.
  • The ability to work under pressure.
  • Openness to direction and adaptability.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Reliability with good time keeping and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to creative collaboration within a team and with other departments.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new processes and technical skills.
  • A working knowledge of Modeling, Rigging, and Mel/Python scripting.
  • Knowledge of human and animal anatomy as well as life drawing skills.
