Job Summary

The Fire Safety Officer is responsible for enhancing fire safety standards within the organization.

Main Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with fire safety requirements outlined in the organizational fire emergency plan at all times;
  • Supervise maintenance of all fire safety equipment in the premises, including regular inspections and testing;
  • Maintain occupant loads below the capacity prescribed under the fire code to minimize risks;
  • Conduct daily checks to identify and remove any fire hazards found within the premises, promoting a safe working environment;
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Fire Emergency Plan, conducting scheduled fire drills to ensure effective evacuation procedures;
  • Familiarize occupants with means of escape within the premises, providing essential information on fire safety and emergency response;
  • Create informative fire safety guidebooks for premises occupants, outlining crucial information and procedures;
  • Train occupants in first aid, firefighting, and evacuation procedures in case of a fire, ensuring they are equipped to respond effectively;
  • Coordinate and supervise occupants during firefighting and evacuation efforts, guaranteeing a swift and safe response;
  • Operate the Fire Command Centre during emergencies, overseeing the incident command system and making critical decisions;
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the Arson Prevention Plan and Fire Emergency Plan with the Fire Safety Committee, identifying areas for improvement;
  • Implement the Arson Prevention Plan, working collaboratively with stakeholders to prevent fires and minimize risks;
  • Notify management immediately in case of a fire incident, providing critical information for prompt decision-making;
  • Organize campaigns and training to promote fire safety awareness among occupants, fostering a culture of safety and responsibility;
  • Perform additional duties as required by management, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.
