Senior Accountant Position

This position requires a highly skilled accounting professional with 3-5 years of experience working remotely with a UK-based accounting firm. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for processing financial transactions, preparing VAT returns, and collaborating with the tax team to ensure accurate and timely preparation of tax returns.

Responsibilities:

  1. Process financial transactions and maintain accuracy in the general ledger.
  2. Reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  3. Prepare VAT returns and manage VAT calculations.
  4. Assist in the preparation of financial statements.
  5. Collaborate with the tax team to prepare corporate and individual tax returns.
  6. Review the work of junior staff and provide mentorship on accounting processes, VAT calculations, and tax return preparation.
  7. Assist in creating financial reports and analyzing trends.
  8. Keep abreast of accounting principles, tax regulations, and relevant industry best practices.

Requirements:

  • CA or ACCA qualified accountant.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working remotely with a UK-based accounting firm.
  • Proven proficiency in accounting software, including Xero, FreeAgent, Sage Line 50, VT, and Taxcalc.
  • Experience in data migration from Sage Line 50 to Xero is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of VAT, accounting principles, and UK tax regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a meticulous eye for detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor junior staff.
  • A proactive, results-oriented team player with a positive attitude.
  • Experience using video conferencing and collaboration tools, such as MS Teams, for remote work is an advantage.
