The CO Technician II role involves a range of technical responsibilities, from installing and maintaining digital Central Office equipment and facilities to evaluating and testing the performance of various CO equipment.

Main Technical Responsibilities:
  1. CO Equipment Installation: Install and maintain digital CO equipment and transmission facilities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  2. Power Supply Equipment Maintenance: Repair and provide preventive maintenance on CO power supply equipment, including rectifiers, standby generators and batteries, ringing machines and distribution panels and fuses.
  3. CO Equipment Evaluation: Test, analyze and evaluate the performance of all other CO equipment, such as subscriber line equipment, Nortel CS1500 switching gear and common equipment, trunks leaving and entering central office and billing and traffic metering equipment.

You will work to ensure the operation of transmission facilities and associated equipment, including voice frequency repeaters, carrier systems, electronic telephone equipment, fiber transport equipment, line equipment and trunk facilities.

Additional Technical Responsibilities:
  1. Acceptance Testing: Perform acceptance tests on new equipment and oversee the daily checking of toll, EAS, other types of trunks and alarm reporting systems.
  2. System Planning: Assist in the preparation of plans and specifications and other data for additional equipment or upgrades, ensuring that these upgrades meet the company's technical requirements.
  3. Network Management: Coordinate with the Network Manager and VP of Plant & Operations on the evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of various carriers, fiber optic, toll and transmission systems when the company investigates possible upgrades and system additions.

You will also be responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance and support of microwave radios and alarm systems, working closely with subsidiary and supplier personnel to turn up and maintain new systems.
