Key Responsibilities:- Staff Management:
- Supervise and train pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
- Schedule shifts and manage staffing levels to ensure optimal customer service and workflow.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching to improve team performance.
- Inventory and Stock Management:
- Oversee medication inventory and ensure proper stocking of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies.
- Conduct regular audits to check for expired medications and maintain accurate records of drug inventory.
- Order and procure medications as necessary while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure the pharmacy complies with all local, state, and federal regulations, including those related to controlled substances.
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions and medications dispensed in accordance with legal requirements.
- Ensure that the pharmacy operates in line with safety standards and quality control protocols.
- Patient Care:
- Provide guidance and counseling to patients regarding their prescriptions, potential drug interactions, and usage.
- Assist in immunization services, health screenings, and other patient care services as applicable.
- Handle patient complaints and resolve issues related to pharmacy services.
- Financial Management:
- Monitor and manage pharmacy budgets, including controlling costs and optimizing revenue streams.
- Review pricing and ensure that the pharmacy remains competitive in the marketplace while maintaining profit margins.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to optimize patient care.
- Communicate with suppliers, insurance providers, and vendors to ensure smooth operations.
- Quality Control:
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of medications.
- Conduct regular audits of processes to ensure quality standards are met and continuously improve workflow efficiency.
- Technology and Systems Management:
- Oversee pharmacy management software and ensure that systems are up to date.
- Monitor the accuracy of electronic health records (EHR) and ensure that prescription information is correctly processed.
- Leadership and Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute strategies to improve the pharmacy's overall performance, customer satisfaction, and service delivery.
