Job Description:

The General Account Department at AKU seeks an experienced and skilled individual to fill the position of Associate, General Account Department. This role is responsible for ensuring timely payments to staff and vendors, preparation and submission of monthly financial reports to internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining assets and liabilities schedules.

Responsibilities:

  1. Review and approval of local and foreign payments as per the approved authority matrix, ensuring accurate recording, tax compliance, and adherence to AKU's policy.
  2. Supervision of staff who process payments, ensuring that all payments are made on time and institutional commitments are fulfilled.
  3. Liaising with various departments for day-to-day matters including payments, contracts, etc.
  4. Preparation and review of monthly schedules and reports for assets, liabilities, and projects as assigned, and following up with relevant stakeholders for recovery/adjustments of funds/status.
  5. Preparation of annual withholding tax reconciliation.
  6. Active participation in monthly, quarterly, and annual general ledger closing activities and internal and external audits.
  7. Any other assignments assigned by the supervisor.

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:

The ideal candidate should have:

  1. ICMA finalist/ACCA finalist/BBA in Finance or equivalent with relevant work experience.
  2. Minimum 2-3 years' experience in Finance.
  3. Good knowledge of accounting principles, income tax, and sales tax laws applicable for payment processing.
  4. Strong analytical skills.
  5. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  6. Proficiency in the use of computer packages, especially MS Office.
  7. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
