Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Database Migration Specialist with expertise in large-scale heterogeneous database migrations, modernization, and refactoring. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of database security best practices and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop strategic plans for business and technical challenges in an enterprise environment.
  • Create database migration strategies and solutions, including defining physical structure, functional capabilities, security, backup/recovery, HADR based on RTO/RPO.
  • Automate repeatable tasks and identify potential risks with mitigations.
  • Develop data validation plans and cases to demonstrate database readiness post-migration.
  • Collaborate with application teams to ensure business functionality and SLAs are met.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in large-scale heterogeneous database migrations, modernization, refactoring & optimization, especially with Postgres, Oracle & AWS Aurora.
  • Expertise with AWS Database Migration Services (e.g., AWS SCT & AWS DMS) for large dataset migrations.
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Shell Scripting for database deployments and migrations.
  • Proficiency in database development and/or database code refactoring/migration involving procedural language (e.g., Postgres PL/pgSQL, Oracle PLSQL, MSSQL TSQL).
  • Strong understanding of database/data security best practices and compliance requirements (e.g., PCI, HIPAA, GDPR, SOC, ISO).
  • Knowledge of other database platforms (e.g., Oracle RAC, MySQL, MSSQL, Snowflake, Redshift) is a plus.
