Cloud Infrastructure Specialist

A key challenge in the field of IT is ensuring that infrastructure and applications are resilient, scalable, and highly available.

This is where a System Reliability Engineer comes in. This role involves driving automation and enhancing infrastructure resilience by working with cutting-edge technologies.

• Continuous Integration & Deployment:

  • Design, implement, and enhance CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes-based platforms to streamline software development and deployment processes.

  • Build and maintain Docker container images, managing all associated dependencies, to ensure efficient and reliable application delivery.

• Environment Setup & Maintenance:

  • Configure, automate, and maintain environments across diverse infrastructures, including on-premises Kubernetes clusters, AWS EKS, VMware, and containerized environments, to optimize resource utilization and reduce complexity.

  • Focus on process automation to increase efficiency and consistency, reducing manual errors and improving overall system reliability.

• Cluster Management:

  • Deploy and manage large-scale Kubernetes clusters, MySQL clusters, storage solutions (e.g., OpenEBS), ELK stacks, and Redis to ensure high availability and resilience of infrastructure.

  • Monitor and analyze system performance to identify areas for improvement and optimize cluster configuration for maximum uptime.

• Automation & Configuration Management:

  • Leverage tools like Ansible and Puppet to automate environment setup and simplify configuration management, reducing the risk of human error and increasing overall system reliability.

• Application Modernization:

  • Collaborate with development teams to transition legacy monolithic applications to microservices architectures on both on-premises and public cloud platforms, enhancing scalability and maintainability.

• Dashboard & Integration Development:

  • Create dashboards and integrate components to improve visibility into infrastructure and application performance, enabling data-driven decision making.

• Operational Automation:

  • Utilize APIs, CLI tools, and custom scripting to automate repetitive operational tasks, improving efficiency and reducing manual effort.

• Operating Systems:

  • Proficiency in Unix-based environments, including RedHat and Ubuntu, is essential for managing complex infrastructure systems.

• Build & CI Tools:

  • Experience with build systems (e.g., Dockerfiles, Make) and CI/CD tools like GitLab CI/CD and Jenkins is crucial for automating software development and deployment processes.

• Virtualization & Containerization:

  • Hands-on experience with VMware, Docker containers, and Kubernetes orchestration is necessary for deploying and managing containerized applications.

• Scripting:

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and PowerShell is required for automating repetitive tasks and simplifying configuration management.

• Platform CLI Tools:

  • Familiarity with CLI tools for Veeam Backup, VMware, AWS, Azure, and Netscaler load balancers is essential for managing complex infrastructure systems.

• API Integration:

  • Ability to interact with REST APIs for data retrieval and posting, including implementing authentication and authorization mechanisms, is necessary for integrating disparate systems.

• Container Orchestration & Management:

  • Expertise with on-prem Kubernetes (including AWS EKS) and Docker Compose is required for deploying and managing containerized applications.

• Configuration Management & Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

  • Skilled in tools like Ansible, Puppet, and Terraform is necessary for automating environment setup and simplifying configuration management.

• Monitoring & Logging Tools:

  • Experience with Grafana, Prometheus, ELK stack, and SolarWinds for monitoring and logging is essential for identifying and resolving system issues.

• Cloud Platforms:

  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is necessary for deploying and managing cloud-based infrastructure systems.

• Source Control:

  • Proficient in Git for version control and team collaboration is required for managing complex software development projects.

The ideal candidate should have 5 to 7 years of relevant experience and a strong understanding of IT infrastructure, automation, and cloud computing principles.
