**Assistant Coach Girls Basketball Position Summary**

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Coach for our Girls Basketball team. As a key member of our coaching staff, you will play a vital role in developing the skills and character of our student-athletes.

The ideal candidate will have previous coaching experience in assigned sports, a thorough knowledge of all athletic policies approved by the school board, and the ability to implement these policies consistently.

You will be responsible for instructing athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.

In addition to your coaching duties, you will also be expected to maintain discipline and work to increase morale and cooperation within the school sports program.

Your expertise in the sport will be valuable in creating engaging practices and games that challenge players to improve their skills.

This is a seasonal stipend position, reporting to the Head Coach and Athletic Director.

Responsibilities

• Assist in scheduling, providing transportation to tournaments and special sport events.">
• Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adhere to scheduled facility times.">
• Provide documentation to the athletic director to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.">
• Provide proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment sites.">
• Serve as a mentor to each athlete to promote the development and demonstration in student athletes the character traits of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.">
• Gives constant attention to a student athlete's grades and conduct.">
• By his/her presence at all practices games and while traveling, provides assistance, guidance and safeguards for each participant.">
• Provides training rules and any other unique regulations of the sport to each athlete who is considered a participant.">
• Initiates programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.">
• Directs student managers, assistants, and statisticians.">
• Determines discipline, delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary and contracts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.">
• Assists athletes in their college or advanced educational selection.">
• Accountable for all equipment. Collects the cost of any equipment lost or not returned. Arranges for issuing and storing of equipment and submits an annual inventory and current records concerning same.">
• Monitors equipment rooms and coaches' offices and authorizes who may enter.">
• Permits the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at appropriate times.">
• Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility.">
• Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment.">
• Secures all doors, lights, windows, and locks before leaving the building if custodians are not on duty.">
• Instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.">
• Makes press releases and school announcements.">
• Instructs team members to change the rules and teaches team to follow those rules.">
• Maintains a record of team statistics and requirements for lettering.">
• Attends all staff meetings and carries out scouting assignments.">
• Arrives early enough before practice, contests, and meetings to adequately prepare and remains long enough afterwards to help players with problems or to become involved in staff discussions.">
• Always demonstrates professionalism. In the instance of diverse opinions, feedback is shared outside of watching students and parents. Never criticizes, admonishes, or argues with any staff member within ears or eyes of players or parents.">
• Strives to improve skills by attending clinics and using available resources.">
• Attends most of the competitions and/or games, when possible, of other teams in the program.">
