Data Governance Specialist

As a Data Governance Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing and managing data governance frameworks using tools like Azure Purview. Your role will ensure data quality, compliance, and security while collaborating with stakeholders to optimize data usage across the organization.

About the Role:
In this position, you will utilize your expertise in Microsoft Purview for data governance and cataloging, as well as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and Power BI for data integration and visualization. You will also leverage PowerShell for automation and scripting tasks. Additionally, you will work with Data Quality and Compliance Tools, such as Microsoft Compliance Manager, and project management tools like Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include performing data discovery, identifying and cataloging data assets using Purview. You will implement and configure data classification rules to automatically classify sensitive data, ensuring compliance with regulations. Furthermore, you will ensure the automatic tagging and categorization of data to create a comprehensive inventory.

Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience with Azure Purview or similar data governance tools is essential. A strong understanding of data governance principles, data management, and regulatory requirements is also necessary. Proficiency in data cataloging, metadata management, and data lineage documentation is required. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are also crucial. Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams are vital.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A certification in Azure Purview or other data governance tools would be beneficial. Prior experience in implementing data governance frameworks for enterprise clients is also desirable. Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure or AWS, and knowledge of data privacy regulations such as GDPR or CCPA, are additional advantages.
