Job Description:

Wood Truss Design Expert

This position involves designing and analyzing wood trusses to ensure structural integrity and safety. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of wood properties, structural engineering principles, and building materials.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Structural Analysis and Design:
  • Perform load calculations to ensure the structure can withstand forces and maintain stability.
  • Design wood members such as beams, joists, trusses, and columns to meet strength and safety requirements.
  • Utilize specialized software for design and analysis, including AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, ETABS, and Wood Works Design Office.
  1. Collaboration and Integration:
  • Work with architects, engineers, and construction teams to integrate wood designs into broader project plans.
  • Provide technical support during construction to address challenges.
  1. Material Selection and Standards Compliance:
  • Select suitable types of wood (e.g. softwood, hardwood, engineered wood) based on strength, durability, and environmental conditions.
  • Adhere to standards such as the National Design Specification for Wood Construction (NDS).
  • Ensure all designs meet local, national, and international building codes, including fire safety and seismic standards.
  1. Sustainability and Energy Efficiency:
  • Design energy-efficient and sustainable wooden structures.
  • Address structural challenges, such as fire resistance, moisture control, and load distribution.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of wood properties, structural engineering principles, and building materials.
  • Proficiency in software like AutoCAD, Revit, SAP2000, ETABS, and Wood Works Design Office.
  • Knowledge of local and international building codes and standards, including fire safety and seismic design.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address challenges related to construction, moisture, and load distribution.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.
