Job Summary

This is a key faculty role that requires the individual to make a significant contribution to the teaching and learning environment of our students. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting annual targets set by the Head of Department, working with the Dean/Principal to secure a high-quality teaching environment, and developing their own teaching skills.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Meeting Annual Targets: The candidate must meet the annual targets assigned by the Head of Department (HOD).
  2. Taught in an Excellent Learning Environment: Work with the Dean/Principal to ensure a high-quality teaching and learning environment for students.
  3. Teaching Assignments: Teach assigned courses according to the faculty workload policy.
  4. Professional Development: Continuously develop own teaching and learning skills and contribute to the planning of teaching programs.
  5. Employing Innovative Teaching Strategies: Employ innovative teaching strategies and facilitate experiential learning during lessons.
  6. Critical Discourse: Challenge thinking, foster debate, and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking.
  7. Supervision and Feedback: Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements; set, mark, and assess work and examinations; provide feedback to students.
  8. Maintaining Academic Performance Records: Maintain records of students' academic performance for internal evaluation in the Examinations.
  9. Mentoring Students: Execute mentoring of 15 to 20 students as per the Riphah Mentoring Program.
  10. Technical Skills: Update data in VLE and other required software as per requirements.
  11. Incorporating Islamic and Ethical Values: Link and inculcate Islamic and ethical values in teaching.
  12. Departmental Involvement: Participate in activities of departmental and university committees as per requirement.
  13. Tutoring and Attendance: Supervise/randomly check student attendance in classes/labs/practicals.
  14. Research and Publication: Write or contribute to publications or disseminate research findings using other appropriate media.
  15. Applying Research Findings: Seek practical application of research findings.
  16. Conducting Independent Research: Carry out independent research and act as principal investigator and project leader.
  17. Line Management: Act as a line manager, supervising the work of others, for example in research teams and projects, or as PhD supervisor when required.
  18. Additional Duties: Perform any additional duties assigned by the Head.
