A people person with strong networking skills, excellent written and oral communication skills is required.

Data analysis, superior organisational skills, good business instincts, mathematics skills, and negotiation abilities are also essential.

Understanding supply chain management procedures, logistics skills, strategic planning abilities, and knowledge of supply management software are necessary.

Specialised industry knowledge and experience as a procurement clerk or junior buyer are advantageous.

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, engineering, economics, applied science, or a related field, especially those accredited by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), is preferred.
