Financial Specialist Job Description

This role plays a critical part in our organization's financial management by performing various accounting and financial tasks. The ideal candidate will maintain accurate financial records, prepare financial reports, and assist with overall financial strategy.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Record Financial Transactions: Accurately record day-to-day banking and credit card transactions in financial books, ensuring completeness and error-free entries.
  2. Bank Reconciliations: Regularly perform bank reconciliations to match financial records with bank statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly.
  3. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Record bills and invoices, process them promptly, and maintain outstanding customer invoices and vendor bills.
  4. General Journal Entries: Enter general journal entries as needed for financial transactions not fitting standard categories.
  5. Vendor and Customer Statement Reconciliation: Reconcile vendor and customer statements to ensure alignment with external statements, addressing discrepancies.
  6. Month-End Accruals: Accurately record month-end accruals to reflect outstanding expenses or revenues for the period, ensuring up-to-date financial statements.
  7. Payroll Processing: Assist in recording and processing payroll transactions.
  8. Prepaid Expense Schedules: Prepare and maintain prepaid expense schedules to accurately reflect prepaid expenses on the balance sheet.
  9. Fixed Assets Register: Maintain an up-to-date fixed assets register, tracking tangible asset value and depreciation.
  10. Inventory Reconciliation: Reconcile inventory records with physical counts and make necessary adjustments to maintain accurate inventory valuations.
  11. 1099 Reporting: Generate 1099 data for review.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with at least three years of experience in accounting, preferably with US clients. Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations is essential. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is also required.
