About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled web developer to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative web-based tools for activism and community building.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PHP, HTML/XHTML, CSS, and experience working with relational database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL, or Oracle. They will also possess excellent communication skills, enabling them to effectively engage with colleagues and clients to provide high-value service and outside-the-box thinking.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  1. Developing detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timelines.
  2. Producing project estimates during sales process, including expertise required, total number of people required, and total number of development hours required.
  3. Attending client meetings during sales process and development.
  4. Working with clients and Project Managers to build and refine graphic designs for websites.
  5. Converting raw images and layouts from a graphic designer into CSS/XHTML themes.
  6. Determining appropriate architecture and other technical solutions, making relevant recommendations to clients.
  7. Communicating efficiently and accurately to the Project Manager regarding any progress and/or delays.
  8. Engaging in outside-the-box thinking to provide high value-of-service to clients.
  9. Alerting colleagues to emerging technologies or applications and opportunities to integrate them into operations and activities.
  10. Being actively involved in and contributing regularly to the development community of the CMS of your choice.
  11. Developing innovative, reusable Web-based tools for activism and community building.

Requirements:

  • BS in computer science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience.
  • 3 years minimum experience with HTML/XHTML and CSS.
  • 2 years minimum Web programming experience, including PHP, ASP, or JSP.
  • 1 year minimum experience working with relational database systems such as MySQL, MSSQL, or Oracle.
  • Development experience using extensible web authoring tools.
  • Experience developing and implementing open source software projects.
  • Self-starter with strong self-management skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
