Senior Data Engineer Job Profile

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale data processing systems.

  • Design, develop, and deploy data pipelines and architectures, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business requirements and translate them into actionable data solutions.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality code, adhering to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.
  • Work closely with data scientists and analysts to integrate data into their workflows, enabling informed decision-making.
  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and governance, implementing measures to prevent data breaches and errors.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends, applying new knowledge to drive innovation and improvement.
  • Communicate technical ideas and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, using clear and concise language.
  • Lead by example, mentoring junior engineers and promoting a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Requirements and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering, with a strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.
  • Relational database experience is required, with a good understanding of database design, normalization, and query optimization.
  • Reporting experience is required (Jet, Power BI or Tableau), with a focus on data visualization and storytelling.
  • ETL experience and programming skills in at least one of the following languages: Java, Python, with a strong emphasis on data processing and manipulation.
  • The individual should be from a development background in data engineering, with a solid understanding of data pipelines, architectures, and workflows.
  • Experience working with onsite and offshore teams, with a focus on collaboration, communication, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision, relying on experience, research, and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals.
  • Understanding of data archival strategy, including data retention, backup, and recovery procedures.
  • Strong complex problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Ability to learn quickly and manage time effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills, with a focus on clarity, concision, and impact.
