About the Role:\ This is a grant-funded contractual position that requires the selected candidate to work on a project focused on the investigation of pathogen genetics using sequencing-based technologies. The successful candidate will join a dynamic research team and contribute to the development of a research strategy for ongoing research projects. \ Duties and Responsibilities: \ As a Postdoctoral Research Associate, you will: \ - Operate within well-defined practices and procedures, performing activities with specific objectives and deliverables within the function. \ - Contribute to assigned academic administration and education support. \ - Coordinate, administer, and participate in research study-associated activities such as sample collection, lab bench work, data collection methods, strategies, and analysis for data management. Maintain record-keeping systems and procedures. \ - Assist senior faculty in conducting, managing, and planning research projects by determining theoretical aspects of problems and selecting methods of approach. \ - Independently conduct experiments, devise instrumentation and techniques, protocol optimization, and execution of experiments. Record and collect test results. \ - Have hands-on experience running NGS assays with full confidence through the workflow. \ - Correlate data compiled in research and interpret the results. \ - Develop new concepts, methods, and techniques to solve scientific problems. \ - Analyze theories and research findings to determine applications. \ - Carry out literature surveys, data searching, and retrieval utilizing various techniques and technologies. \ - Contribute directly to the development of a research strategy for ongoing research projects. \ - Compile information, data, and practice exemplars for publications. \ - Prepare qualitative and quantitative analyses of data. Be familiar with bioinformatics analysis tools. \ - Prepare write-ups of results, manuscripts of papers, and presentations. \ - Enter experimental data in appropriate software and participate in data analysis. \ - Work with assigned faculty on specific research projects and contribute to writing grants and research papers. \ - Supervise and assist research staff and PhD students in research projects. \ - Participate in the conduct of workshops for capacity building with the supervisor. \ - Raise purchase requisitions of equipment and reagents in coordination with the purchase department.
