Job Description

Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture and experience working with farmers to improve crop yields and quality. The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting farmers in producing high-quality seed and chip stock that meets international standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crop scouting and providing recommendations to growers.
  • Providing farm advisory services to build the capability of farmers from sowing to harvesting and post-harvest handling.
  • Ensuring good agricultural practices are followed on farms producing potatoes.
  • Providing visibility of crop performance in the field and recommending corrective actions.
  • Participating in trainings and other forums showcasing best practices and developing their implementation at growers' farms.
  • Capability building of growers to adapt sustainable farming programs and implement their agendas at farms.
  • Enabling growers to present their farms for 3P audits of SFP as per audit cycles.
  • Supporting regional managers in variety trials, evaluations, and research as required.
  • Developing new areas to stretch the fresh window for continuous fresh potato supply and reduce reliance on expensive storage.
  • SQA journey with seed and chip stock traceability from seed to finish goods.
  • Training field teams and farmers' staff on crop best practices.
  • Promoting the use of machinery at field operations for cost-effective measures ensuring crop quality.
  • Managing specific potato projects and programs for improving yields and quality under direction.
  • Helping farmers with better crop management through farm visits and advisory efficacy.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Agriculture graduate or higher degree in production sciences (e.g., plant breeding, agronomy, soil science, horticulture).
  • Knowledge of potato growing areas, farmers, and crop management.
  • Technical know-how about different pests and their control.
  • Fluency in English and local languages.
  • Strong analytical skills and result-oriented approach.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in supervisory roles within agribusiness companies.
