Optometry Educator Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching assigned courses, developing their own teaching and learning skills, and contributing to the planning of teaching programs.

  • A strong academic background in Optometry or a related field is essential.
  • The ability to teach effectively, communicate complex ideas clearly, and foster a positive learning environment is crucial.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Meet annual targets set by the Head of Department (HOD).
  2. Teach assigned courses as per faculty workload policy.
  3. Continuously develop own teaching and learning skills and contribute to the planning of teaching programs.
  4. Employ innovative teaching strategies and facilitate experiential learning during lessons.
  5. Challenge thinking, foster debate, and develop students' ability to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking.
  6. Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements as required.
  7. Set, mark, and assess work and examinations, providing feedback to students.
  8. Maintain accurate records of students' academic performance for internal evaluation.
  9. Execute mentoring of 15-20 students under the Riphah Mentoring Program.
  10. Update data in Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and other software as needed.
  11. Integrate Islamic and ethical values into teaching practices and participate in departmental and university committee activities as required.
  12. Ensure teaching content and methods align with RIU's mission and respond to issues related to subordinates and student needs.
  13. Monitor and record student attendance in classes, labs, and practicals.
  14. Pursue research opportunities, publishing findings or disseminating through alternative media.
  15. Seek practical applications of research discoveries.
  16. Conduct independent research, serving as principal investigator and project leader when necessary.
  17. Act as line manager, supervising colleagues in research teams and projects, or serving as PhD supervisor when required.
  18. Perform additional duties assigned by the Head as needed.
