We're looking for a skilled Database Administrator to join our team. This role involves overseeing the administration of our PostgreSQL, Redis, and ES clusters throughout the development and production lifecycles. You will be responsible for driving Postgres partition and sharding strategies to support rapidly growing data volumes.

A key aspect of this role is monitoring performance issues on all production and non-production databases, implementing performance monitoring and trending on all production and applicable non-production databases. You will identify performance bottlenecks and regressions before they impact customers, focusing on query response time, CPU utilization, and connection management. Our monitoring tool of choice is Datadog.

You will collaborate closely with development teams to optimize SQL statements in applications, batch jobs, and reports, as well as designing and using databases and database applications and processes for maximum performance, security, reliability, and availability. You will also identify missing and imperfect indexes in popular queries.

In addition to these responsibilities, you will manage backup, replication, and disaster recovery functions for the database environments. You will participate in capacity planning as it relates to production databases and develop and maintain processes for optimizing database security and standards.

This role requires a strong background in PostgreSQL administration, particularly with version 16.0 and above. You should have experience with Amazon RDS (Postgres and Aurora), Linux, and shell scripting. Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and issue troubleshooting is also essential.
