General Manager

The General Manager is responsible for managing the company's business operations in the region, developing and implementing a strategy for the local sales unit, and providing day-to-day leadership and guidance. The successful candidate will oversee the management of business functions within the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a large team and serve as the primary contact for key customers.
  • Acquire knowledge about the territory and/or product area and provide expert input to business strategy, plans, and processes.
  • Develop, motivate, train, and coach the team to achieve business objectives.

Primary Objectives:

  • Oversee the management of business functions within the region.
  • Develop and monitor action-oriented plans and objectives to realize the strategy/strategic goals.
  • Ensure the team meets defined targets for their respective territories.
  • Manage price levels and sales performance.

Create the local sales unit strategy for:

  • Finance and Control: Manage budgeting and control activities for the allotted region, including settlement of claims, overall STP planning, etc.
  • Care: Manage infrastructure and footprint for Care centers in the region, focusing on developing the competence by managing performance and developing skills of members in own responsibility areas, and ensuring delivery on KPIs for care employees.
  • Logistics: Oversee outlook processes, MTP, delivery on KPIs on mixed and forecast accuracy, demand planning, etc.
  • Retail and Sales Operations: Act as a facilitator and support for planning distribution roadmaps, Nokia academy training, promoters' training, reviewing with external consultants.
  • Marketing: Support joint marketing funds, plan BTL activities like outdoor, indoor visibility across regions, etc., and plan marketing activities with regional key accounts.

In addition to these responsibilities, the General Manager will also oversee Human Resources processes for regional employees, which includes talent management, implementation of company values, reviews, etc.

Job Specification

Essential Competencies:

  • Business Insight, Business Planning, Channel Management, Collaboration, Customer Focus, Leading & Coaching, Persuading & Influencing, Solution/Value Selling.

The ideal candidate will have considerable knowledge of solution & services, particularly mobile internet services, as well as considerable knowledge of Iran and/or MEA.

A strong leader with the ability to motivate staff to deliver exceptional performance is required.

The General Manager must be able to develop strategies for the successful introduction and growth of the company's solutions offering and implement these strategies effectively.

Able to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints, the successful candidate will be an expert in more than one area, with a broad perspective.

Individual Portfolio:

  • Typically 12-18 years of relevant experience.
  • Degree.
  • Telecommunications experience essential.

Work Environment:

  • Highly independent and self-directed, with the ability to develop plans, measure effectiveness, and assess customer relationships and service levels.
  • Capable of developing and implementing complex and innovative concepts.
  • Problems require searching and selecting, anticipating problems, seeking opportunities, and modeling creative and innovative work methods.
  • High collegial interaction.

Scope:

  • Business Leader: effective management of resources and development/implementation of plans and processes.
  • Interprets policies and establishes procedures, increasing awareness and influence of other functions outside of own business area.

A well-rounded, experienced candidate who is emotionally mature and can:

  • Analyse and provide clear direction to the team and business.
  • Serve as a catalyst for the Solutions Transformation by focusing on both business transformation and culture transformation in the LSU.
  • Create options and initiate proposals - align with the overall company direction.
  • Drive the implementation of the same in LSU and build cross-functional alignment and way-of-working, i.e., 1 team.
  • Deal in politically-sensitive environments.
  • Use business management/sales/distribution experience to build this business in the above context.
  • Build a team and align respective functions behind Iranian objectives and Nokia overall objectives.
  • Identify, develop, and execute solution opportunities and offerings.
  • Drive and establish an effective ecosystem consisting of operator & developers through partnership to develop the company's service businesses.
  • Lead the development of the company's solution business.
  • Oversee and direct business development activities to ensure consistent expansion of profitable sales and establishment of new business partners.
  • Ensure readiness of technical, operational, and regulatory issues prior to launch of service.
  • Articulate specifically the Transformation (what and how) towards a Solutions business and effects internally and externally.
