Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced PHP Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in web development, with expertise in PHP, HTML/XHTML, CSS, and relational database systems like MySQL, MSSQL, or Oracle.

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers and other development team members to develop detailed specification documents with clear project deliverables and timelines. They will also be responsible for creating project estimates during the sales process, including expertise required, total number of people required, and total development hours required.

In this role, you will attend client meetings during the sales and development processes, working with clients and project managers to design and refine websites. You will also be responsible for converting raw images and layouts from graphic designers into CSS/XHTML themes, determining suitable architecture and technical solutions, and communicating progress and any delays efficiently and accurately to project managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create project estimates during the sales process, including expertise required, total number of people required, and total development hours required.
  • Attend client meetings during the sales and development processes.
  • Work with clients and project managers to design and refine websites, requiring strong skills in Photoshop, Fireworks, or equivalent applications.
  • Convert raw images and layouts from graphic designers into CSS/XHTML themes.
  • Determine suitable architecture and technical solutions, making recommendations to clients.
  • Communicate progress and any delays efficiently and accurately to project managers.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and opportunities for integration.
  • Contribute to the development community of the chosen CMS and develop innovative web-based tools for activism and community building.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or significant equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with HTML/XHTML and CSS.
  • 2 years of web programming experience, including PHP, ASP, or JSP.
  • 1 year of experience working with relational database systems like MySQL, MSSQL, or Oracle, along with a good understanding of SQL.
  • Experience using extensible web authoring tools.
  • Development and implementation of open-source software projects.
  • A self-starter with strong self-management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
