Healthcare Support Specialist Role

The Virtual Medical Assistant plays a vital role in maintaining the smooth operation of medical services and enhancing patient experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Handle patient inquiries via phone, email, and chat, providing information, scheduling appointments, and addressing concerns.
  • Manage and coordinate patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of time and resources for healthcare providers.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic health systems, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Verify patient insurance information, handle pre-authorizations, and process claims.
  • Input and update patient information, medical histories, and treatment plans in the electronic medical records system.
  • Assist with the preparation of medical reports, correspondence, and other documents as needed.
  • Provide high-quality service to patients, addressing their needs promptly and professionally.
  • Assist with the setup and management of telehealth appointments, ensuring both patients and providers are prepared and connected.
  • Support the billing department by preparing and submitting medical billing information and following up on outstanding claims.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a medical assistant or in a healthcare administrative role.
  • Certification in Medical Assisting or a related field.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare practices.
